Privacy Policy

Spice Nepalaya ("we", "us") runs this website so you can order food for pickup. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

Account details from Google when you sign in: your name, email address and profile picture.
Order details: the name and phone number you give at checkout, what you ordered, any notes, the amount, how you paid, and when.
Technical data: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, and your cart, which is saved in your own browser. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.

We never see or store your card number. Card details go straight to our payment processor, Clover, through secure fields on the checkout page. We only receive a confirmation that the payment went through.

How we use it

To prepare your order, and to call you if there's a problem with it
To show your order status and order history in your account
To take payment and handle refunds
To keep the site secure and prevent fraud or abuse
To meet our legal and tax record-keeping obligations

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising. We won't send you marketing emails unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

We share your information only with the service providers we need to run the site, and only for that purpose:

Clover: card payments
Google: sign-in
Vercel and Neon: website hosting and our database

Some of these providers may store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and order history while your account is active. The Canada Revenue Agency requires businesses to keep sales records for six years, so order and payment records are kept for that long, even if you close your account.

Your choices

You can view and update your name and phone number on your account page.
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
